Victims' Families Meet and Greet

Those who have lost a loved one to murder are invited to this special “Meet & Greet” event and light dinner.

Join us for a gathering of Nebraska murder victims’ families and out of state victims’ leader, Vicki Schieber.

Monday, December 8th 6:30pm – 8:00pm

Omaha Teachers Administrative Building (TAC), 5th floor

3215 Cuming St, Omaha, NE 68131

Vicki’s daughter Shannon was raped and murdered when she was a student in

Philadelphia. Following her loss, Vicki became a leader in the effort to end the death penalty in her home state of Maryland. After winning this effort, Vicki went on with a coalition of victims to advocate $500,000 of the savings from ending the death penalty to be awarded to homicide victims’ families. They won this campaign, and we want you to hear her story of triumph after tragedy, and how to be an effective advocate.

This will be a safe space. Regardless of your feelings about the death penalty, or any other issue, you are welcome. This event is co-sponsored by PULSE, which has some supporters who favor the death penalty and others who oppose the death penalty.

We will ensure there is ample time to visit with others and share your experiences. A light dinner will be served. You are welcome to bring along family or other support people.

For more information or to RSVP: Please call Colleen at (720) 214-6760 or email her at colleenc@ejusa.org. You can attend without RSVPing, but if you know you can make it, we’d love to hear from you. You are welcome to bring your family. Vicki and her husband Sylvester will be in Nebraska for a few days, so if you can’t attend on Monday and would like to set up a private meeting, we can try to arrange that.

Sponsored by: Equal Justice USA, Nebraskans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, and PULSE Omaha.
